On the Issues

With degrees in economics and law from the University of Michigan, Justin has the background and skills to deal with the difficult challenges facing Michigan.  Three principles essential to sound government and a strong economy will guide him as a legislator: limited government, free markets, and individual liberty.

LIMITED GOVERNMENT

Justin supports
  • pursuing structural reforms and, if necessary, amending the Michigan Constitution to limit government to its essential purpose: protecting your freedom and your rights
  • moving to a part-time Legislature; drastically reducing legislative pay and eliminating lifetime benefits
  • replacing Lansing-based programs and policies with local control and market-based alternatives
  • barring special-interest legislation, regardless of which political party benefits, and increasing government transparency

FREE MARKETS

Justin supports
  • decreasing taxes and fees across the board
  • balancing the budget through spending cuts
  • repealing poorly conceived regulations
  • paying public-sector employees according to merit
  • protecting the property rights of business owners against government-imposed bans on smoking, trans fats, and more
  • phasing out the Michigan Economic Development Corp., which has served as a crutch for unsound economic policies
  • making Michigan a right-to-work state

INDIVIDUAL LIBERTY

Justin supports
  • protecting the right to life of all individuals, especially the unborn
  • securing your individual right to self-defense and to bear arms
  • keeping government out of your daily life
  • allowing competition among schools and enhancing educational choice
  • expanding health care freedom and affordability through market competition
